Over time
1880 Mühlen Sohn GmbH is founded in Westphalian Rheydt and begins with the production of wicks for candles and lamps. Company founder Rudolf Mühlen quickly recognised the need of the drop forge industry for fabric drop hammer belts and the first mechanical loom began operation.
1945 The production site was completely destroyed at the end of the Second World War. Mühlen Sohn did not let this discourage them and took a chance on rebuilding the company.
1946 The company's headquarters moved to the current location of Blaustein near Ulm. Over the following years, Mühlen Sohn expanded its product range and grew consistently.
1995 Mühlen Sohn gets certified in accordance with the internationally recognised quality standard ISO 9001 : 2008 and thereby underlines its commitment to produce consistently high-quality products.
1999 The new building is finished. Blaustein now has a new administrative building and expanded production and design halls. Mühlen Sohn has also invested in modernised machinery and plant.
Company boss Peter Mühlen died in the same year. Hartmut Bella becomes Managing Director. His skills and experience enabled him to continue the business seamlessly.
2009 Expansion of business activity into China. Opening of own office in Shanghai.
